Hello, I'm Owen! 👋

I’m a researcher and experience designer based in London. Passionate about research, enjoy UI craft and adore bringing them together to create meaningful experiences.

I set my eyes on UX design as a field quite early on in my studies, yet my path has included a fair share of setbacks, unsupportive and dismissive experiences. Those made me grow and realise a kind of practitioner I wanted to be, as well as leave the North and embark on a new life adventure in London.

I am now a part of exceptional team at one of the top and fastest growing start ups in London, having researched and delivered client experiencesand projects I feel passionate about.

Ethics of my own practice, as well as the industry and people around me is very high on the list of my values, hence I spend a lot of time helping create better practices and methods and sharing what I’ve learned with others.

What people say

"It’s been a joy having Owen in the Enterprise Design Team here at Tesco! He has made a real impact in a short space of time, diving straight in mid-project and conducting in-depth user research and detailed analysis to drive forward the optimisation of key user journeys within the application. Owen has shown true leadership in confidently driving a kick-off workshop for a high profile strategic project, which involved working with Product Managers to understand the desired outcomes and bringing together key senior stakeholders within the business to plan and facilitate a vision workshop. Thank you for being so engaged with the project and helping to build a stronger, more collaborative team."
Keri Dewing, Design Lead - Trading and Planning, Tesco

"I had the pleasure of working with Owen for a number of years at Inviqa in a consultancy environment. Originally coming from a UI background, I've witnessed Owen skill up and flourish into a confident senior UX and research practitioner over the last few years. He's a hard worker and very eager to learn, always jumping at an opportunity to try or learn something new.

I was particularly impressed with all the work he shared in our team updates over the last year or so we worked together. He is
methodical and thorough in his approach, very structured, and his output is robust. He was also one of the few team members who worked on the most projects year after year - he's consistently managed to balance and deliver a wide variety of projects at the same time - this is a challenging thing to do and speaks to his ability to manage his time, stay focused, and dig in.

Owen is humble yet determined. He isn't afraid to ask the important questions and challenge the brief, but he does so from a place of calm curiosity. Personally, it's been wonderful watching him grow and blossom over the years, and I look forward to seeing the exciting places where his career no doubt will take him."
Daria Lanz, Senior Experience Design Manager, Play Station (formerly Design Director at Inviqa)

"My first memory of Owen is him resolving a difficult client situation, which he handled like an absolute pro - his listening skills, ability to take feedback with grace, and progress design activities so that everyone feels included and listened to, was such a pleasure to watch in action (not to mention the quality of the end product that he delivered).

His design practice is reflective and mindful: in these two years, he shifted from being a UI focussed practitioner to
well-rounded designer, who's definite strength is research (planning, facilitation, analysis). He constantly strives to grow, take account of what he can do now and what he'd like to do in the future, to aid that process he has created a very detailed self-reflection skill-board which became the inspiration for our progression framework and was extremely helpful to a few other people in the team.

Owen is also one of those people who are so essential to our team culture - he's endlessly kind, he helps everyone he meets along his career path, he also voices his opinions and proactively builds towards us all having a better future.
He will be a key person to any business he decides to help, I'm absolutely certain of that."
